Nice finds & shots Chris.

 

What was the "Beefsteak" hosted on?

Doesn't look quite right to me.

Thats why i was unsure, it was on a young rowan if i remember rightly (there are several scattered round the area).

 

it's the closest match i could find in my ID books. what do you think?

Not 100% but it looks like Bay Polypore - Polyporus badius/durus.

 

Can't find a reference of it specifically on Rowan, but i've seen it on a few different broadleafs.

i'm a very late starter.....playing catch up.......jumped in with an id and didnt even look at the host. Getting better on the fungs though and learning learning learning! Only went to the park as a driver one day......bloke called in sick and i stood in for him....been there since. sssssh!:sneaky2:
