in one day aged 17 1 sycamore and one beech, released from woodland now last remaining of stand, so 80ft rough to first branch, swimming pool below, with 120thousands worth of butterfly mosaic tiling, crane to lift me into canopy, chain on, bottoms cut and lifted and lowered into nieghbours garden in one!

both trees around 120, but skinny as hell with very little crowns that had just begun to spread after freeing from woodland.

What sized crane did you use on that job!!

twas a long time ago, but i do remember that it was the largest road going crane in the country at the time! half a day on site i think it cost us 500 -600 quid for the day 20 years ago!

the best bit about that job was that being a bit green as only two years into arb i wasnt going up, then the client offered me a £70 bonus, at the time that was nigh on a weeks wage! i never looked back and fear was gone, in fact fear went the other way and I spent ten years getting a rep for being a bit of a nutter!

I can still pull out all the stops when the pressure is on, but i definatley have a more deeper sense of mortality these days!

Heightwise, last week I took a spruce in log sized lengths, after loosing the top 10 feet I was at 82 feet. Thats the highest I measured. Don't think I have climbed over 100'. Highest measured climb I have done was 96'. I was stood with my head out the top of wellintonia but couldnt get another 4 feet.

Fattest was 5'2" at base but it was a very straightforward job, straight fell fat dead field oak. Loads of lovely logs from that beast but it took me 4 months to collect it all from the field.
