Beech fungus ID?

K. deusta can be purely saprophytic (therfore no problem to the tree just living on wood already dead, so quantify amount of living/dead wood) but can be oportunistic/pathogenic particularly if there is ganoderma/honey fungus present. So even if close to a house do a proper assessment, no knee jerk reactions please.

kretschmaria is one of the few fungi i do not like, and NO ONE can acuse me of being a knee jerker!

Even with substantial amounts of live wood i would want a fractometer testing of the residual wood properties.

There is so much fruiting on this tree, both anomorphs and fruit bodies as to suggest this one is not long for this world, but if possible, will contribute to habitat greatly. However, Kretschmaria is ver dominant once it colonises the wood and few other fungi can compete with it, so beetles will be the main benificiary in this case, rather than a complex of fungi one can expect usualy on fallen or dead beech.
