I've recently been offered a petzl navaho bod fast harness (cheap)...they're not technically listed under arb harnesses but i've checked through all the specks and compared it to a petzl sequoia and they seem almost identical on en regs etc, if anything the bod fast seems to come out as a bit safer? does anyone have experience or opinions on whether or not these navaho bod fasts are ok for tree work?

i have used one for tree work, i know a guy who uses only these harnesses. They are fine for trees, they come out as a good cheap alternative too!

I find them good having a fixed D and a sliding D, you have a choice!

Thanks...didn't know you could fit D's on it? will have to check it out on the petzl site.

might be a chance of second harness going cheap, if so do you want me to let you know?

cheers

Hi, I have used a navaho bod as a rigger for years and have recently tried a sequoia and found it to be infinately more comfortable especially for long sessions!

More expensive it may be but given it is specifically designed for tree use , it wins hands down for me in tree applications.

Cheers, Tommo

if my noggin is workin correctly, the bod is the full body/fall arresst version.

best used for footlockin comps (isa?) or for use in a mewp

the usual fall arresst alternatives are very basic, the bod is as comfortable as a regular harness, but has the advantage of bein cert'd for fall arresst use, unlike harnessess with the add-on shoulder straps.

a good harness, iv was very seriously considerin one, until i had a look at the skylotec version, just need more info tho.

have been checking out petzl website and it seems to me that the bodfast is basically the sit fast but with the upper body attachment. pre-suming i'd be able to disconnect the upper part and just use the basic harness then i guess it would be a simple entry tree harness, they seem to retail for about £100 which, if price is anything to go by, probably isn't going to be all that comfy.

thanks for feedback everyone, might consider buying the 2 bodfast harnesses cheap, sell on ebay and use the proceeds to buy a sequoia, mate of mine uses one and loves it.

john dawson, you mention having a skylotec, would you recommend it?
