superwinch husky feedback

cheers for the feedback guys,it all looks reasonably positive. I already run two superwinches an ATV2000 on the quad and a GP2300 on the back of the defender on a tow-hitch set up, and i have not had any bother in the past with them. The one i am looking at has been used but full refurbished, and as such doesnt have the rope on it yet, it has albright solenoids as well, and i have a lodar wireless controller ready to plumb into it as well so i can operate it myself when felling as having done some winch assists in the past comms with the person on the winch can be tricky at the best of times, so i would rather take that risk out of the equation

anyway thanks again

Make sure you put a battery isolator on it. Not one of the cheep one with the red switch a heavy duty one. This saves people from been able to power the winch out with a paper clip. In Oz years ago people would spool the cable out, drag it over the roof & attach it to the tow bar. Then power the winch in cutting the car in half.

Also run the earth back to the battery or the main chassis earth next to the gear box.

:thumbup1: Cheers for that, I have an isolator in the cab already for the 12v supply to the rear for when i use the rear winch. so i will route it through that set up anyway. I am more worried about it going walk about quickly as i know a few local guys who have the winches nicked off the front of the vehicles,

We did this at work a few years ago cos it is bound to put some of the crooks off.

Try and do it in a place that's hard to get a cordless grinder though, those things are a dream-come-true for the bad guys.

BUT ....after we did ours the winch supplier then pointed out that welding a high tensile bolt reduces the strength of it and he would not guarantee the instalations to the vehicles unless all the welded bolts were cut off and new ones fitted, so that was what happened, and before long one was nicked. C'est la vie !!
