Extra Van Seats

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Cant see an info anywhere here or on the net so any advice or experiences appriciated.

I have an iveco daily 35s11 and i i love the old girl.

The problem i have is i need some extra transport for when i have big jobs on.

I can't see buying another motor will be cost effective but i cant see why i cant turn my three seater into a crew cab. I have even found that i can buy the fixings, seats and belts all new from parts supplyers to complete the job.

Has anyone done anything like this all i want to know is will i have to

re-register the veichle and or have it all inspected as if it were a kit car or something. All because of having changed from 3 seat to 5 or 6.

Obviously it will need declairing to the insurance legal like.

Cheers Marcus

I believe if all the fixings and Brackets are there to enable you to install extra seats without changing bulkheads/chassis then you should be fine. You may need to get it inspected and amount of seats updated on the V5 but that should be it.

I wouldn't quote me on the above though, but i beleive it works on a points system as to what you change etc. Call DVLA, or VOSA and they should be able to advise you.

When I first got my Vito it had a row of three seats in the back. I rang up an insurance company to sort some out and they said because it was a six seater it would cost me £1200 TF&T!!! Asked how much it'd be if I took them out and it came down to £400. Took seats out and sold them on the bay for £490 so all was good.

Give your insurance a ring before you go and buy anything for it and ask.
