Last year i felled a dozen or so park land elms that had been treated in 78 and early eighties they had survived but died over the last 5 years 2 still remain.... sadly recently the remaining clusters of surviving elms i know of do not look good.

I recently noticed a beautiful elm that had been in the international tree foundations tree of the months a few years ago has been felled im watching 3 die now in gardens and the sad thing is they are in small clusters so i supose if one gets it they all die...im not talking about scrubbyhedge row elms these are giants, worse of all down a small country lane that hides my favourite group of elms one looks like its turning.....a real shame.

I will ask the guy on the estate, I think it was over a few years from the impression i got as he had spent a fortune acording to one of the workers, but they where in proper elm country and not one elm in the woods or hedge rows survived on the estate so its not by chance imo ..

Have heard other simular storys of trees being treated but it didnt work i can only guess because treatments where not kept up????.
