After reading the street trees thread I wonder wether it would be useful to have a geological map somewhere on the site if possible, showing shrinkable clay areas. I know there are hardly any in scotland yet I constantly get asked about these issues by clients, would others like an online map so you could check out your clients area?

Just a thought, don't know if its possible.:001_smile:

BGS used to have a very good web based browser, I will see if i can find it, if it still exists

try this

BGS online geoloigcal maps

you will need to zoom to the local area to see the geological features, the relevant layer will be Superficial deposits

I was just wondering if we could have a simplified version, blank except for the shrinkable clays, so it was idiot proof:blushing:

If you are really keen on it ring the MLURI and they will produce exactly that map for you in about ten minutes. You can highlight all the areas of shrinkable clays in a few clicks of the mouse.
