We got told BY THE COLLEGE that they would find us a placement We where also looking on the side. We where told that the college would have a better chance of finding us a placement then us ringing around but we rang helped our self like you have said and still no luck.

.....I go by its always better to have help then struggle...

we also were promised that, but unless you had about £1500 -£2000 of mummy and daddy behind you then abroad wasnt an option so you just get chucked on the scrap heap by college,

luckily managed to sort myself out with a placement, but even so myerscough seem to have a habit of promise with no follow-up!

I am a Myerscough College ND student currently on placement at the Royal Horticultural Society Doing a Specialist Option Certificate in Arb and Estate Management.

To be Honest I am shocked that the college are finding it hard to fill the FD course. I know with the ND course they have large numbers apply.

Why should you expect a collage to find you work?

Its their job to teach you, and give you and the industry the skills required.

it is YOUR personal job to find and aquire work, and it is out there for those that are willing to apply themselves, but for those that expect others to do the work for them, it will always be difficult.:sneaky2:

I 100% agree with this, it helps set you up for when you come in to the real world the effort you go to get a placement should be down to the student. As for traveling aboard there are many company's willing to take ND students and they will lend the travel costs and give approx 3 weeks free accommodation.

Alex Reid you will remember the presentation we had from the company in Oz also many other students abroad have had such treatment in other country's. So in my eyes there are many placements out there you just need to travel and take a few changes in life to get them.

Tom get your self on the ND its a bloody good course got a few mates who did the FD and now on the ND and they say its the best thing they did. Hope to see you around when us ND lot are back. Good look with finding a placement just do the finding yourself don't leave it to the college! :thumbup1:

True enough mr walker maybe my statement was rather sweeping about the money aspect but I don't know wether you heard that company in auz turned out to be a bloody nightmare for the lads that went to them and as fir placement abroad they are there even tho mine was very short term!

But chatting to a lad on the ND at Liverpool myerscough he also said they are short on applications with as little as 10 so far this year

I would say yes.. As its 3days a week Monday,Tuesday and Friday SO the rest of the time you could work as long as you got any assignments in.. It dose say On wendays and thursday Work placement but the college haven't gotten round to helping us out with that i have asked around and had no luck

ND's do a full 5 days mate at Croxteth, several of the lads work part time but live at home so costs are at a minimal, and considering the ammount of Assignments we get its very hard to cram it all in. Very good course thoe, ive got CS30&31 and im doing 38 on wensday. Also going the Welsh Arbor fair next month with my class so looking forward to it.
