I really do hate Barbed wire.

I was walking the dogs in the wood I have today. Along one boundary the (plastic) so called farmer has installed a barbed wired fence.

 

I have told him before that he has gone overboard and only needs two strands if he is only keeping cows. He has strands every six inches in some places!! I thinks sometimes he is trying to keep the rabbits in.

 

He has the barbed wire on my side of the boundary stream for access to the water. I don't want to fall out with neighbours, I believe in trying to get on with them, but I came across this owl today which has obviously got hung up in the last two days and died.

 

I'm going to have to have a word again.

 

Such a shame.

I thought the problem was supposed to be the barbs.

Yes thats correct, if it was normal wire the owl would not have been snared.

Jillions of dead animals lay as roadkill all over the world. I won't weep too much over one more... be it roadkill of fencekill.

Yes you read correctly, If it had flown into normal wire it would have had a shock but that would have been it, instead it's been hung. I don't think you realize what little wildlife we have left in this country.
