am i right in saying the smell from laurel leaves is a mild base for cyanide and if you inhale it all day when chipping it gives you a banging headache

So it's not heatstroke I'm getting :sneaky2:

Laurel and Cherry (at certain time of the year) smell of essence of Almond not Marzipan. It's the stuff your Gran used to put in the bun mixture.

There's one smell that I absolutely love, nothing to do with trees.

Puppy breathe, the smell of puppy breathe upto about 6 weeks is lovely. :001_smile:

no is the answer, the Laurel leaves and stems when burnt give of white smoke, this is what contains cyanide. Chipping them will not release anything.

Dean, marzipan is flavoured with almond essence, its the same thing.

Does that mean in our risk assessments we should include amyl nitrate in our first aid kits when chipping laurels in case we are overcome by cyanide?

Its apparantly the antidote!

Off to the sex shop then! Just make sure you get a receipt!

Hi Tockmal,

What a strange theory, but when you say makes you depressed what does it really mean?

It can mean several things depression. Cause depression is very vague word, can be a one day thing that one just feels sad or it can mean one feeling so empty that nothing matters and feeling so low that we dont want so see anyone...

Any how I've never heard of a smell of any kind having such effects. I can imagine a smell making me a bit happy because it brings out a memory, or vice versa but nothing more than that...

Could it be something to do with the fact that leylandii is the most hated tree in britain and that one more bad point added to the long list of horrible facts .

To me it sounds total nonsense!

bye tiago

Now we know who does the cooking in your house :001_tongue:

Ho Ho !

I like a bit of cooking, but I'm better at eating!

Just come back from the pub, 4 pints of bitter, large gammon, chips, salad, grilled tomato, homemade onion rings, mushrooms, and ...... 5 eggs!

God, I'm absolutely stuffed!

Come in and nowts on the telly and her is 1/2 way through a bottle of red, so I'm having a glass of that to keep her company.

Thats the foreplay sorted then!
