cow manure storage

that helps thank you... this pile has been dumped around 50 yards from my house. the smell prevents us from hanging washing out to dry as it permeates the baby clothes... we cannot have the windows or doors open despite the fantastic weather we are having... and after speaking to one of the farm workers, it seems there may be another 200 tonnes to come along, with no plans to do anything with it. Who is best to contact?? environmental health, defra or env agency??

I had the same problem but with horse manure and my first port of call was to speak directly to them and after bending over backwards to resolve the situation .. even offering to let them use my tractor and put it on my muck heap I ended up having to speak to Enviromental Health who sorted the situation .. let us know how you get on.

Oh for gods sake, Do you live in the country? If you do you should understand that being able to smell manure is one of the perks of living in the countryside.

I will have probably been put on maize ground and will be spread within the next week as it is getting towards time to drill maize.

Put a clothes peg over your nose and stop moaning like a baby!!!!

Very true.

You could go and live in the city instead, and breath diesel fumes all day if you would prefer.

We have the stables for the horses right behind our house. They may smell a bit sometimes, but the other day I witnessed a future race horses' first steps, out of my kitchen window, whilst making my breakfast.:thumbup1:
