Friend of mine has asked me to have a look at his Euc in his garden. he wants it reduced. Anyone done a coppice on one?

I know you can prune them back hard and they respond well, from what i read. but wanted to hear if anyone on here has done one.

Then il get a qualified Arb to do it! I cant, not trained yet..BUGGER!!!:cussing:No NPTC ticket!

YET!:proud:

I have done a few fairly severe reductions. Never coppiced one though. If you can reduce them by leaving some good healthy growth then they dont turn into bog brushes. If you just chop them then you should go back later to remove some of the new growth.

I have seen one that was severly hacked two years ago in a neighbours garden that I was working on. It was left with almost no growth and has stayed that way. It needs removing now. I think to be honest it depends on the variety of gum tree and the light conditiions it's in.
