Forests need tending, please do me a favour, forests need leaving alone that includes allowing forest fires to happen, native Americans fertilized trees lol, i'm sorry I take much of that with a pinch of salt, the reason there are shells under trees is because the ate there shellfish in the shade. Oysters can last days without water, making them and ideal trade item.............

Mind you saying the above doesn't mean I think the guys a fool, no way this guy knows his onions!

Not a lot mate, infact the soil-pick is a much safer tool having the nozzle cemented into the end rather than threaded, as for the removal of soil no difference...

Thats not really true, the air spade is a far superior product in every aspect, safety being one of them, Infact the too products are worlds apart. The soil pick was developed with one nozzle style, to remove soil in the most efficent method (fastest) for utilities projects.

The developers of the air spade spent a vast amount of money developing the nozzel range for a number of applications arboriculture being one of them.

I started out with a soil pick/wand as they were known, after trials between this and the air spade when it was introduced we relegated the soil pick, IMO it has no place in the arb world.

The ideal solution for our industry would be an air spade with a 165 cfm compressor, not the stated 185 cfm comp as stated in the manuals. This gives enough air flow to dislodge clay type soil but leaviong enough control to work in and around fine root structures.

Your welcome to your opinion as am I, I see no difference in the two, and they're both pants, without a soil vac, and that is a fact!
