:D imagine an identical situation where a chap calls you up with the same issues - what would you suggest. I'm not saying there is a wrong or right, i'm saying I'd do something else I think.

Could you? would you?give him a guarantee that his tree would not fail?

Hitler lives!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but I don't personally see the comparison. Some people might take extreme offence to that.

Could you explain it to me?

How does my responsibility under the law turn me into a genocidal fascist dictator?

It is not an issue of the predisposition of the stance adopted by the owner but of our understanding of tree care and the things we can & cannot do to achieve and maintain an harmony that values life. Trees. People. Life. Get it !!!

Tony,

You are a tree fascist, your way or no way!

I did not mean to cause offense, it was tongue in cheek,if I have caused offense I apologies

(is that how you spell "fashist"?)

I know there are lots of "professional tree care " businesses that could not do as well as that un-arb-educated individual.

Also I recall in the original post he was an engineer worried about his tree. Hmmm. I think another engineer turned tree expert comes to mind, Herr Mattheck.

As a tree officer, there are clearly set guidelines which have to be followed, whether its under a site development program (AIA), Con area regs or TPO regs. These rules and regulations have not been drawn up willy-nilly, but over many years to safe-guard our environment. We'd be the first to shout if no-one was there to protect our trees, in fact I think we can only gain by having people such as Tony out there, just try and work with the LPA rather than against them.

Yes mate, however I dont think the LPA is beyond reproach here. It should have been picked up at the aia and protected. The LPA has shown a complete lack of understanding of the issues IMO Brings me back to point..get off your high horses and learn from the cock ups that have led to this situation...unless of course you like the damn thing?

Its a bit off mate is all.

............................................................... <---Line drawn under it!

Anyway, I think you'd be suprised how much of a range "...my way..." encompasses. It might even cover some of "...your way..."! :)
