Saturdays in Surrey (KT24) intermittent work over the next few weeks

OK - have tried to read/research this forum enough to post this message clearly without annoying you all...let me know if I succeeded?

We're a not-for-profit setting up a community kitchen garden in Surrey (near Guildford). The garden has been left to grow for 30 years+ and we need to clear back the overgrowth, small trees and laurels to make room for the spuds and carrots etc. We also want to cut up wood from larger tree clearance so that we can sell it for firewood.

We won't use a chainsaw unless the user has the relevant training & quals, so though there's no climbing that means most of the volunteers are out, but it's a long and daft job with anything else. So, if you are interested in helping us we can offer intermittent work starting as early as 10th April, with a big group of volunteers and more cake & tea than you can imagine.

We'll pay the going rate (whatever that is, have read some of the other posts so have an idea but we'll agree that up front) by the hour or by the day. You'll need to prove that you have the right licence/quals (CS-30 / CS-31 sound right?) and you'll need to bring your own safety gear and equipment.

SUJO,

The other important thing to think about as well as qualifications is insurance. Anyone who comes to work with you will need their own public liability insurance (especially important when working in an area with many untrained volunteers). Most self employed people on here will have insurance but anyone who is employed wont be covered for weekend private jobs. It would be advisable to insist on seeing the certificate before you let anyone start work, otherwise if there is an accident you are all in trouble.

Not suggesting Hamadryad is not insured by the way, its just that you should check.
