I rang the Falconry Centre and was told that it had eaten something and they'd given it an injection of anti-biotics. They said the wing couldn't be saved. The vet will have a look tomorrow and the people who are responsible for them in the area we found it as well. They said it had most likely been shot. I asked them to ring me to let me know what they decide to do.

They rang me this morning to say the osprey died last night. They had put it in this intensive care thing they have and had been force feeding into its crop

It had rallied a bit yesterday afternoon. It was a juvenile male, 1 year old born in the U.K. ringed in the nest as a young bird. The wing was dead, so he would never have flown again.

They are going to X-ray the carcass to see if there is any lead shot. The chap I spoke to said it was either shot or attacked by a peregrine as there are a lot in that area and they see ospreys and buzzards as prey.
