Variegated pergoda tree

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this may be a long shot but worth a try.

I had to condemn a variegated pergoda tree last year and am trying to find a new one to give to the client as a gesture and to replace this rare tree on an important botanical site.

I had no oportunity to try an air layer or cutting approach as this tree was severely decayed and hollow leaning into a car park and obvious targets.

if any of you know where I may find a replacement, of ANY size please let me know, thanks guys as always:thumbup1:

A variegated Sophora? Next you'll be wanting to mulch it with well-rotted rocking horse manure.

Good luck!!

Do you have a full botanical name for it?

The Hillier manual has a Sophora as variegata but describes this as mottled but my specimen was striped not mottled so this is as I say going to be a hard one to find if not impossible, maybe it was the ONLY one of its kind?

The variagation was a strip through the center of the leaflets and gave the tree a most unusual appearance. on first look i thought it was a variegated fraxinus! it was a bueatiful tree, i didnt write it off lightly I can tell you!
