I love the look of really old well managed pollard heads.

 

There's some I pass every now and again, I'll try and photo them next time.

nor do i, but i also don't like the way certain companies pass it of as pollarding. a professional pollard such as yours :icon14:is a far cry from what some pass of as pollarding.

Nice work john. I am a big fan of pollarding as a way of managing urban trees. The french and germans have been doing it for hundreds of years - I'll dig out some pics of the huge Acer pollards i took in Annecy, france.

I've been fighting to get these done for years (highways only just came up with the money) I'm keen to see how much re-growth they put on in the coming years...time will tell I guess!

In my experience, expect those to put on at least 750mm per growth season...

We have alot of Lime trees in the city, some with suspect knuckles; so they end-up looking like this...
