Hi Everyone,

I am trying to source a used Lucas sawmill and I have a budget of between 5-7k. I recently missed a very good deal on one that went for 5k.

There is one on eBay, but it is outside my price bracket. If anyone knows of anyone who may have one for sale, please do let me know.

Thanks

Justin

Was the one you missed advertised on Ecolots?

If it was, it is now in my barn. Great machine.

Where abouts are you?

John

Yes that was the one. If you are looking to move it on, please let me know.

I am based down in Dorset near Wimborne?

That mill was on for £9k but it looks like it has been relisted at £8750. presumably no takers. I would make them an offer at £7k....what have you got to lose?

I think JPH was more concerned I might be encroaching on his patch :laugh1:

No, if you were local and had some decent logs I was going to offer to mill them for you.

Most kind, but I think I have decided to pull out of my sawmill venture. I can't seem to get the logs.

Yes good logs are hard to get hold of. I went to see a farmer last week who had felled a 4foot diam oak on his farmyard because he thought it was hollow. It turned out to be 100% solid. It was only 8foot long and pretty ugly, probably been down a few years. He wanted £200 for it which was more than I was willing to pay. If it had been top quality I may have paid up . We had the old arguement of it being worth more for firewood. I suspect it will stay on his yard untill it rots. Shame.

Hi Justin

I have only joined arbtalk today, after seeing that you are looking for a Lucas Mill.

I have one, and due to illness have not used it for a while and am presently considering selling it as I am not likely to be able to get back into the heavier side of my work.

If you have not got hold of one yet, please get in touch.

You can get my details from my web site wood naturally!

Cheers Tim
