They're not actually new, they're remanufactured late classic Defenders. JLR isn't allowed to build new classic Defenders because they're non-compliant with current legislation so they bought significant numbers of low-mileage late (2015/2016) vehicles and rebuild them. Your £250k limited edition is actually at least 10 years old and technically second-hand. All the post-2016 factory limited editions have been like this.

I missed a typo in my last post, the classic Defender was discontinued in 2016 so the youngest is 10, not 16 years old.

F me , your quite right, they are reworked defenders as opposed to new old stock ,on the jlr sight it says nothing about overhauled , reworked or rebuilt landrovers,  however u go to a different page and theyre the things are !.

No i wouldn't pay upwards of 200k for some0ne else's sloppy seconds .

Yes, there would have been issues with pedestrian impact safety, airbags, crumple zones, side impact protection and roll-over protection and that is just for starters. By the time they'd made the structural changes required to comply the vehicle would look like a Grenadier.

A classic Defender will generally survive an moderate impact with a normal modern car since the car acts as the crumple-zone. A classic Defender is an extremely bad place to be if someone runs into the side of you or if you are in a hard rollover. Surviving either withough injury is rare.

I rolled one 3 times, had a ten ton shackle in the footwell and an 020t chainsaw ,no scratches or injury on me . No roll cage or anything like that, im still here ,normal also , that was in a td5 truck cab  -
