Hi all,

Me, the Mrs and our two kids are moving to Australia on 7th November.

We are heading back down to my old stomping ground of Thanet, East Kent for a while to spend time with family before we go. I'm hoping to find work while we are down there to help fund the move.

I'm looking to fill from the 6th October - 31st October (4 weeks). I'm happy to travel a little way from Thanet but not too far as it defeats the object of getting as much money behind us as we can to then spend it on fuel. Distance is negotiable if the right opportunity presents itself.

I'm pretty experienced, switched on, motivated etc. I've been doing tree work for 13 years, climbing for 11 of those and Team Leader / Lead Climber for most of the firms I've worked with in the last 8 years. Plenty of shining references if required.

By then I would have probably sold all my climbing gear and will be down to a saw, boots, helmet and trousers so I'm looking for groundie work to see me through. As for daily rate, I don't know what experienced groundies are getting in that region as I've been in the South West for a while now. Again, negotiable but must reflect my level.

Alternatively, if agreed in advance I can put off selling my climbing gear and bring it all down with me. If I'm climbing, I'd expect £200 a day. The only reason I am aiming for ground based work in Thanet is, the sooner I put all my gear up for sale, the better the chance I have of selling it all in time.

All the correct tickets, EFAaW+F, MEWP, own saw and PPE, own transport, robust attitude, thick skinned, reliable and happy to crack on with whatever I'm thrown at.

If you want to discuss it further or you know of someone looking for a groundie, let me know. You can WhatsApp message me on 07543607500 or message me on here.

Thanks in advance,

Chester.

Can't help with work in Kent, but I wish you every success in your new life in Australia.

If I could have my time again I would be doing similar.

I reckon I wont mind the snakes and spiders, even the heat I'll get used to. It's the Aussies that might take some warming to. Or maybe I'll think they are all amazing from the get go. Who knows. No idea what to expect really but worth a punt innit

It's rare I find an Aussie I dislike. Watch a few on youtube. Have a good mate living over here.

I've never met any really. But they seem awesome. Especially Brisbane where we are going.

On Australians, the internet pushed me a video the other day about a union of sheepshearers being unhappy about some upstart using a wider comb to shear sheep faster. They were bellends.
