We often read of arb trucks being stolen.

A quick Google advises keeping the keys of newer models in a box immune to thieves scanners.

Steering wheel, pedal, gear stick locks.

Cameras, alarms, trackers but does anyone simply pull a cable under the bonnet each night?

They will find it.

Was talking to a old family friend last week and his son has a fuel shut off, but van will start and run for a short time. He had van pinch from under bedroom window, they got 750m down road and it stopped and that's where they left it, right in the middle of the road.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
