Hello!

Does anyone know what's wrong with this tree trunk or is this normal?  It's a Japanese cherry blossom that flowers around April/May for a couple of weeks.  Thank you! 🙂WhatsAppImage2025-03-22at11_44_49.thumb.jpeg.ec4137301ba146ea903d65eee8cd547b.jpeg

It is reacting to being " boxed in " by all the hard standing that surrounds it . The roots cant breath and possibly are girdled .

Looks like it's potentially something to do with the graft? The bulge will be coming from the rootstock.

Is there anything else concerning about the tree? Defoliation, lots of deadwood formation etc?
