That is a good price for a square file.

 

You need to clear that gullet out a little bit more for that to clear better.

Is that filed inside to out or outside to in? Looks like the second angle face isn't quite right.

 

I'm still at the rough job on square filing myself. I found it easier to get some 75CJ chain from Oregon and sharpen that by copying what was there.

As was said, clean the gullet out and set the top corner better. I will try and get some pics for you tomorrow of one of my chains. It is a difficult and time consuming process, but satisfying and cuts incredibly well

Yes I didnt bother with the gullet, I know that is required and will do with a round file. This is just a pair of spare cutters in a vice for practise, not a proper chain.

 

I did mess up the angle, tried to correct it. I'll have a go on a fresh cutter tomorrow.

 

I was filing from the point inwards, which I admit seems wrong to me but was recommended in a video. Perhaps wont leave a burr but at the expense of file life.
