If you spot a BT or NTL van, ask the guy to give you a few of the heat sealing connector kits.A tenner usually helps. Slip on the plastic cover, join wires, heat plastic with lighter...Proper job...and just deny all knowledge when someone rings your customer but the guy 4 doors down gets the call.....red to red ..blue to blue...etc..lol

Request a receipt from the client, you can offset the payment under repairs and breakages, under expenses/or overheads; or credit the amount to them, which reduces the clients' bill on your accounts, and your turnover, ergo tax bill. Every little helps.

The damage was a consequence of your business activities, for which the business is responsible.

I broke 2 lines in one go last year , BT sent me the bill no problem. Maybe its because I phoned them rather than the client.

I often take lines down and put them back up afterwards. One thing worth noting, if the pole is not on private land BT will take them down for free, however be prepared to spend half the day waiting for them to turn up.
