Road sweeper hire/acquiring from council

How easy is it to acquire a road sweeper for thoose awkward tidy ups along the roadside where wheel barrowing, and rake up is difficult..

I'm guessing it is relevant to Arbtalk for big enough job by the roadside, but then you'd be working along side highways with traffic control and road cleanup would be factored in to the job.

Having previously worked for the council, long sections of path have been blown down to road for a sweeper to collect by mini scarab sweeper or HgV sweeper.

This was well co-ordinated very handy as gulleys and alsorts of pathways could be cleared at once.

I work for a village council with a budget, and as far as I know don't hireor contract  sweepers but wondered how I might go about planning my leaf blowing activities with a road sweeping day, possibly finding out if highways have to clean my villages roads as part of the counties maintenance for the whole network.
