Hi guys, i have a morso squirrel that has been in the store for about 6 years, i have bought all the new stuff for it, fire bricks, rope, glass etc and i have the spray paint for it too.

My question to the experts is. Do i have to take the whole stove to bits and reclay every joint as a friend told me i had too, or can i just put in all the new stuff and job done.:001_smile:

How many bits does it comprise? I've got a Morso Panther and it's only 6 or so main sections. I'm not sure there's much to eb gained by totally dismantling it.

Worth making sure it's properly sealed either way, what with carbon monoxide and suchlike.

Cracking little stoves those squirrels.

Take it to bits steve, it wiull be in a different world to just fitting new bits. I only say this because i have just done one, with the help of a genuinely, diagnosed, OCD guy. The difference was amazing to the jobs i have done in the past just adding new bits...and it looked like a brand new one, not just a refurb..

They are very simple mate, and a well made one such as the squirrel should be very easy to take apart....i was really worried about crackiong cast iron and forgetting how things went, but it was surprisingly simple, and that stove was one with loads of windows and fancy doors and stuff. Go for it, you'll be fine.:001_cool::001_smile:

thanks guys, it was the sealing that i was worried about and the gasses. I think its a matter of turning it upside down and unbolting the corners, but i would need someone who knew what they were doing. cheers

I believe you can find parts lists and exploded assembly diagrams of most Morso ovens by searching Google. Here is one for the Morso 1410 Squirrel http://www.morsona.com/Files//Files/PDF/Manuals%20USA/72145200%20-%201410_USA.pdf

There are different variants of the ovens (with identical numbers). My 10 year old 1410 has two separate hinged doors.
