When I lived in the Alps we'd usually do the drive from Chamonix to Dover/Cherbourg in 8-10 hours, which was an absolute doddle on deserted French motorways at night.

That's good going.  Did the road trip from Cham, where our daughter lived (now in Les Houches), to East Sussex in June; 15 hours door to door.  Thank goodness for two drivers.

Merry Christmas - you deserve it

Ah right, would I know her?  I lived in Cham from 2008 to 2018.

That’s a proper mission, go steady.

It's a long day all right, it's the way we usually do it whenever we visit the UK so we've got it down pat now really, with a good few stops along the way for the kids and the dog.

Fraid not; she only moved out there - Les Praz - in Oct 2022

Thanks and will do.

She did a one day avalanche course a while back:  she was the least experienced skier there - and she's not a novice - and said it brought all her brown trouser moments home in one!
