at one point in time my 365xt had its idle end up set far too high at 3500 and after a while a full throttle it wouldnt settle down below 5k for a fair few seconds even with throttle fully closed

Upon investigation i started with the basics before getting too deep and came across this. Would you consider this to be the most likely cause to the issues? Thanks

yeah that will def cause running issues. take the mesh out and clean it in brake cleaner then blow it out with an air hose. give the carb a clean too. carb kits are only around £13 from L&S. if you've got a pressure tester then test it once you've rebuilt it. they can leak sometimes around the cover plates. the also need a wee drop of fuel in them to seal properly.

All clean, ill get onto l&s as i have an account and hope that sorts it. Yeah got a myti vac so ill get onto that once kit fitted, remind me what psi thanks

should hold 15 psi

Put some fuel in the tank, shake it about a bit and drain it out as that shyte has come from there. 

I used to do it through a fine filter to see when the tank is clean. It sometimes takes three purges to be clean.

Make sure the fuel filter is also clean and in good shape.

Another thing I always did if ever I found clag in the gauze strainer on a machine in for work on it.
