Similar mauls can be had alot cheaper

 

Adler Bison Muller etc all good  quality german ones with hickory handles

I liked  the cheapo fibre though seem to absorb shock better than hickory

 

 

 

Seems some youtube axe bloke agrees hickory fat  handles are not ideal......

 

Vintage axes (there usually felling ones) have alot thinner handles - better at aborbing shock
