Echo CS362TES tuning troubles

Hi Friends!

Just looking for some advice. Has been a bit hit and miss from new, although I'm new to carb tuning.

I ran it in, was running very rich.

I have it running fairly good, revs freely in the cut and 4 cycles at WOT. but takes a long time to warm up and run well, even with the CAT removed.

H screw is 1/4 turn out. My main question is that the L screw seems to have a big effect on how high it revs/engine speed. The leaner the L the higher it will rev at WOT. Is this normal? Many thanks team

Hello we ran one of these saws for a good few years from new it ran straight out of the box cracking saw after about six months we had something rattling about in the exhaust which was changed by the dealer and he balanced and set the carb up absolutely bang on totally reliable saw!

As for your main question the L for lower speeds and H for the higher ones that does not sound right to me that the L affects WOT, this is all about balancing again am sure other people can enlighten you more on these intricacies

Your saw you have just run it in which leads me to believe it is not that old your carbs needs balancing which is a fine art I don't think you need to be taking out the cat at this juncture I would take it back to the dealer and get them to set it up properly hope this helps

Some carbs, especially earlier ones, have settings where the L screw does have an effect on the H setting. The old Stihl 020AV and the early 026s were a couple that did.

At 1/4 turn on the H screw I would think that you have the low screw far too rich and are compensating for it with the H screw.

I have no data on the standard settings for the carb on this saw model but you should set the carb back to standard and then adjust the L screw for a stable idle (you may need to adjust the idle speed screw) and then tach the H screw in.

With the CAT removed, you may need a slightly richer mix on the L screw and H screw, 1/4-1/2 but not much more than that.

Butterfly type carburettor L controlled ports (3 little ones) are always influencing engine work.

At idle usually the closest hole to the engine is open, but starting from acceleration process and up to WOT it sprays fuel from all 3 L ports happier than a race winner sprays champagne.

L adjustment always has influence on all RPM range. It is just felt differently on different engines, depending on many factors.
