Just wondered who is entering the climbing competition. I can decide, I want to as it would be good to be part of and to meet up with people but i wouldnt say im a great climber only been climbing a year and still at college so wouldnt call myself experience or atall speedy so dont want to make a d!ck of myself. Been on the website and read the info there. was a bit releaved to see you climb on pre-installed lines. has anyone done the comp before and got an idea of the trees and the speed expected not to look a complete prat.

Its not all about speed.

 

The way we score the climb allows for skill over speed. Too many climbers thrash their way up and out, swinging about, crashing into branches, forgetting to lanyard in at suitable points.

 

The best climb will be a safe, steady, smooth, fluid movement through the tree.

 

Admittedly if you can do that and do it quickly, you have the advantage. However, its not a race - its a climb!

Sorry no Veterans category...

 

Novice = New to climbing / comps.

 

Intermediate = Competed before but not finished in the top three of previous years category / not competed before but climbed for a while (I'll decide on the day!!!).

 

Open = The rest and the best! (and steve )

 

All categories flexible and based on my (limited) estimation of your talents!

i no its says big tree and know its obviously going to be big to get two climbers in and still a good climb, but what sort of trees are they an idea of size? just so i can get practising in a similiar size tree.
