Truffle inoculation.

I am not trying to convince you of anything, so bet on your horse. The UK and other European countries have the capacity to grow truffle species more native to Southern Europe, but you would have to understand the biochemical and molecular triggers that regulate the symbiosis of these fungi to appreciate that. This will not be discussed in an open Forum.

Once more I notice that you have missed my point. I am only interested in the edible truffle species and therefore the host trees and MICRO environments that they populate. I do not know how the 'Ectomycorrhizal ascomycete whatever-tree would sell', probably not worth the risk. I think I will stick to the commercially relevant species. Good luck at the bookies ;@).

I neither invaded or reactivated this thread, I merely took an interest in the open discussion that proceeded yours. Apparently anyone can join in? If I needed advertising space then I would have created a WEB SITE. [Totally Truffles - Totally Truffles].

Really pleased to have had this discussion with such an objective 'Scientist'.

1. You mean, one has to understand the biochemical and molecular triggers, that regulate the balanced biotrophic parasitic relationships of these fungi with their tree partners ?

2. Sure, immediately after your first time registration on this forum reactivating a thread after a period of silence of almost a year is only out of merely taking an interest in an open discussion and totally lacking commercial motives   ?

3. So to demonstrate, that you don't need the advertising space, you repeat your website address for the third time, to which you drew attention by invading this thread in the first place ?

wow- this is crazy.

Their websites is full of inaccuracies and pictures from other websites!

They also claim to be able to grow truffles that cant be grown in the UK.

The Burgundy/summer truffle (Truffle aestivum/uncinatum) season is from May to January, although peak season is August/September/October –depending on the weather. We collect these every year.

There's a truffle association for the UK GBITA Great British and Irish Truffle Association – it looks like the websites not fully live yet, but I know they are trying to regulate the industry in the UK, from tree quality to truffle quality.

I’ve been browsing for a while and just had to chip-in this time ;)

ps lots of fungi around now we've finally had some more rain!
