I had a 101GS for a while, not practical on the road, but they are a beast for towing off road, the onboard winch is a tool also!

A couple of mates have these, both are on LPG, run great on and off road, so cant see why they're not practical. Shorter overall length than a Discovery, smaller turning circle than a 90 (power steering helps) and they cruise at a much higher speed than the 2b. All round awesome piece of kit.

I had a gas con too,but no power steering,I think if you fettle them they do make a fantastic truck, mate of mine has fitted a perkins 4236 and power steering, got shot of the bar grip tyres, that drives ok.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on what is after all a 1970s design, but they are a culture shock to drive any distance.

Did fit an overdrive on mine, that helped lots!
