BS 3998 for tree inspection

Thanks everyone. I have contacted my tutor again and he has asked me to look at books by David Lonsdale or R. Strouts for info on surveys so I will try that next. For now I'm just going to ignore the BS 3998 stuff and press ahead with more general answers. The questions I am trying to answer are:

 

1. Make a list of FIVE reasons why the approaches used for tree surveys need to be systematic (Reference British Standards 3998)

2. Use the concepts of severity of damage / size of any damaged part, and give reference to any defects in the tree under the parameters of BS 3998.

 

The HSE and Forestry Research documents linked above may provide some answers so I will read through them.
