Well now, today is a good day, all round in fact, the life of a dryad is a good one:thumbup1:

A few things are REALY starting to come together for me, and todays posting is a significant contribution to recent events.

I went down to Whippendell today to confirm davids sighting of what is for me almost certainly, nah Im 100% its Piptoporus quercinus, but we will wait till kew confirm, just to keep it all legit and above board. This is a significant find, a new site for a UK BAP priority species, and David has my highest respect for its discovery, not least because it helps my case in increasing the protection and profile of this most wonderful habitat.

anyways, you lot are only here for the photos! lol so heres the Pipto and a rather strange looking thing up the tree with it, as you can see i was rather excited!

i have a few others to ad of various finds, but with this image it all seems rather insignificant!:laugh1:

A Nice laetiporus and a family troop of Ganoderma applanatums on fallen beech

Also a little group of Colybia fusipes, and the now obvious lean this tree has, interestingly, all the colybia i witnessed today was on tension roots, maybe this is a "lazy rotter" prefering higher cellulose levels in its hosts tension roots?

This beech was looking a bit stressed, on closer inspection it was clear (root image of merripilus adaptions) that it was under a lot of stress, its vitality is waining and I do not know how long she will fight but it is clear she has a battle ahead. Meripilus and ganoderma piefferi. First sighting within the wood boundary of pfiefferi, though it is on a beech outside of the wood in the grove golf course.
