The best way of cutting prussiks?

We use a hot knife in the shop, but at the shows insulation tape and a pair of Felco No 2 does the job perfect.

I can help you out with stuff like that mate, I am assuming you're the same Deni that did a day for me last year, just saw your other thread. I will bear you in mind if I need an extra pair of hands mate, things a bit quiet just now though. I was going to give you a call sometime this week about any work you had, i think everyone is in the same boat with things being quiet the now, im happy to come out and help you guys whenever as any experience possible is good!, cheers for the offer of help with knots, hitches etc i will be sure to keep it in mind, i just finished cutting my prussiks to length, done it with tape, knife and a lighter and seems to have worked fine, thanks.

I wrap insulating tape round and cut thru with a sharp knife. But, heres the science bit..... if you squirt superglue up the cut end it melts it chemically. Works a treat!!

yeah thats me. HaHa, proper shifty you say?, will have to watch out for that...joke:001_smile:........actually i was up at the yard at woodmuire today, no one was around so i dropped a cv through the door.

back to prussics, i tape em, cut em then use the torch to heat a bit of metal and seal the ends that way.

i used a bit of tape, cut through with a sharp knife then heated the end to melt it, burnt the first one as i was holding the lighter to close, the rest seemed fine.

My local outdoor equipment shop have their own hotknife and said i can use it to re-size my ropes when ever may be worth looking at local suppliers and asking favors.
