Do you need an operators licence to use one? I used them loads while in New Zealand and have hired them a couple of times over here with no problems.

 

I have a job taking down 5 big previously topped poplars was going to hire a MEWP but the customer thinks I need a licence. Is he right? They make explosives so

are quite fussy about H and S..

 

If I do need one where can I get one quick or is there a subby in the east midlands with a ticket who wants a couple of easy days in a MEWP

It's all down to if anything goes wrong, you then need your ticket.

 

I work for a big brewery, they will not let you on site without tickets.

 

If you come to claim on your insurance for whatever, you will need a ticket

 

Its only a day course and there'll be somewhere near you.

The ticket you need to look for is the IPAF (Powered Access Federation) one, Sky High Access nr Ipswich supply the training for this, tho I'm sure you'll have someone nearer.

Ben thats not the site near Shardlow is it? We worked on the flood bank not far fromm an explosives site.

 

Whats access like? Stuart at DM has a contact with a very large Access platform thats avliable with operator by the day, may be worth giving him a buz?

Its all down to being trained. The IPAF means you have a broad spectrum training. If a hire firm trains you on one machine and you sign the hire form to say your trained , that should be ok for that machine.
