Fire Engine

I looked on line and found this on Flickr. This is the BP Wytch Farm fire tender we had on the Emergency Response team. 6 cylinder, if I remember, petrol which was utter madness as only diesel engines were allowed on site due to the spark risk. It frightened the crap out of me, capable of 80mph, fully loaded with a three man crew, 50 gallons of water/foam in the back plus all the kit. My gaffer told us that if you went into a corner too quickly, don't brake just hold your nerve and accelerate out of it. Otherwise the weight of the tank would have you over. We had an ex RAF one ton forward control as well, much preferred that!

When I first got to Wytch Farm we had an ex Army series 2 ambulance. Had to be permanently hooked up to a charger to ensure it would start in an emergency! Brute of a thing! Got rid and bought a purpose built Renault. At least it started but didn't have 4x4 which was a pain.
