Green Wood Northern Ireland

Evening all,

 

I am looking for a reliable source of green wood to split for firewood. 

 

I have contacted a few tree service companies local to me and only one got back to me, however they say they are quite limited to only having sycamore and I would like to get my hands on a few other species.

 

I have put myself on the tip page but would like to try and build relationships with a few suppliers.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing.  You don't say what you are willing to pay though.  If like many others (including me ) the answer is very little then you can not be fussy about what wood you get.  All dry wood is good wood on a wood burner.

 

P.S. you don't say whether you are talking commercial or domestic - I'm assuming domestic.

Upon re-reading my OP it was quite vague ?.

 

Currently we offer coal, logs and kindling delivery throughout Belfast etc. 

At the moment we buy nets of logs in but have been asked for bulk and barrow bags so we are looking to branch out and start splitting and drying our own. 

Currently only interested in hardwood.

 

Regarding the species, we are wanting to get our hands on some apple, cherry and hickory to split into smaller chunks for smokers to provide some revenue during the summer months.

 

For drying for firewood sycamore is more than adequate. 

 

Commercial use.

I should also add, since my original post, a member here has approached me to supply wood when he has it available. 

 

As for what I'm willing to pay, as I'm fairly new to this particular I don't know what the going rate is for green wood, but having been involved in running the family business for a number of years, I am capable of working out whether I can make money on a load.
