Basically, you clean the front and rear branches off the trees and then interweave the side branches together to create a kind of hedge ! They used to use it for fortification in acient times.Its a bit gay if you ask me - but the colleges have bottomless pots of money which I will gladly help them to spend......

Yes you need to plan this well ahead - also the trees must be planted close together to weave the branches ! Its a bit of an old art -like hedge laying. I wondered how many of you had done some? there are a lot of blokes on here now - and some ladies too !
