Stihl MS171 Problem

Hi, I have a Stihl MS171 chainsaw. Recently, the clutch shoe retainers keep snapping and clogging up the brake shoe assembly and housing. This has done a bit of damage to the plastic housing. I can't figure out why these keep breaking.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Tony.

Not very familiar with these saws but there clutch is a pretty simple assembly. Either the springs you are putting in are bad, wrongly installed, or there must be something wrong with one or more of the other components. Are you fitting genuine parts as a set?

Otherwise go on L&S Engineers and buy a new clutch assembly, sprocket and bearing - they are all wear parts.

Hi I replaced the parts L&S are great by the way. All was good until I stopped the chainsaw. When I tried to pull the starter rope to restart it the flywheel would not rotate. I think it's time to get it looked at by a pro. I've got to say I had a McCulloch before and it was much more reliable.
