Hi all,

I’ve run the old 038 for ten years and it wasn’t new when I got it, it’s becoming more temperamental and beat-up.

Its for farm maintenance and usually cutting fallen trees up to 18”.

I’ve been offered an MS291 for what I consider to be decent money, my question is, for what I use it for, am I going to see a big difference between the bigger old dog and the smaller new technology? Will I get frustrated with a slower or less smooth cut and go reaching for the Farm Boss again?

thanks

A lot depends on what you call decent money?

If you can keep a chain sharp you’ll be better off with the 291, it’ll pull well on an 18 but a 16 would be it’s sweet spot. Lighter and better vibes than an 038 too, you’ll notice the difference on your body quick enough....
