Olive Tree Trunk Damage - please help from a newbie

Dear all

I purchased this Oliver Tree from my local garden centre a few days ago.

It is approx 15 years old - and I did not notice the trunk damage until I got it home.

The tree seems happy and healthy

However - can you please advise

The damage in the picture -

1/ Can it be repaired / healed

2/ Should it be something I should be worried about

3/ Could it eventually kill the tree

Many Thanks

-Peter

My guess is that the tree would survive - olives are very resilient.  But take it back and get a replacement; the garden centre need their arses kicking for selling it in that condition without agreement that it's 'bought as seen'.
