Yes good idea go for the basic house coal to start cause thats bound to be the cheapest, plus its what most of your clients will use,why not see if you can get a few like minded fellows,to club togethr and buy a large bulk load,if they aint in your area they aint any competition, and everyones happy just makes good scense.

I thought the coal trade was a bit cloak and daggers but will have to ring a load of merchantes and try and make a couple of quid here and there till it picks up. In my experience it is nver worth it as something will always go wrong.

Hi Sam I have been selling coal for 2 months now and sold about 15 tonnes and this side of the business is growing as fast as the logs. I only take in 20kg bags and do premium house coal and home fire ovals (smokeless). Primarily its going through retail outlets but we are offering it to the log customers as well (covers the distribution costs). Give me a call if you want to discuss more (you have the number) and I can give you a couple of numbers to try in the south west.Couple of areas to consider 1) VAT 15 on anything over 1 tonnne and 2) split bags etc . But on the whole it seems to be worth doing.
