where to go next

hi all, got me 30,31,38,39 done now.also level 2 arboriculture and hort from nptc c&g. im finding it very confusing about the awarding bodies of qualifications. id like to start moving away from repollarding and such and get into forestry,forest management etc. whats regarded and the next one for me to do, as from what i hear some are not worth as much as others. just would like to know before i sign 1/2 years of my life to something that has been surpassed by another course. cheers:001_smile:

i'l be honest chuck, forestry is a dieing art nowadays,most colleges have switched from forestry to arb/forestry mix and now to pure arb. you can try somewhere like barony college in bonny scotland, or i think its mainly distance learning

i would do nptc cs 32 medium trees and cs 34 individual windblown

think about doing the tech cert or at a push with applying with APL the rfs diploma, more forestry orientated than capel myerscough i believe.

yea i seen the rfs diploma, that looked pretty good tbh just wasnt sure how it was regarded. tech cert would be good too, just undecided which group to go through. 32+34 would be good too, would love to get into some rigging too. can the rfs dip be done from home?

Unfortunatley the RFS cant be done via distance learning, it used to be so but it was considered too much online! like i said in another thread though, I couldnt be doing the tech cert, was too basic, so no option to do the dp i applied for a degree with APL, did my C.V and profile, they asked me to do an entry assigment to prove my ability and was in, so if you do know your onions you coukd at least try that one?

 

Be warned though, it is an in depth level, youll need to be well prepaired for the sylibus, I am just about handling it, and i do mean JUST!

 

but i have a distadvantage having no academic training or background, if youve been into courses for a while youll get it right.

 

the academic stuff is not the same as the practical stuff, and the knowledge is different too. The courses teach you how to write it down, do the scientific method, but you can be as lost with the real stuff when you finish as i am with the paper dstuff now.

 

A BHC dont mean your a great consultant, just a qualified one! trust me I know, I meet them a lot!
