Snow Chains

Any help would be appreciated.

 

Am looking at a cheap set of chains, probably from fleaBay. I need them for a hire car we are taking from the uk, so cheap is good.

 

Any pros and cons attributed to cheap, or should I go a bit more expensive then flog them afterwards?

Have a set from a VW polo.....

Used once will get size range as i'm not sure.

There really heavy so never flea bayed them.

How much you willing to pay as postage will be £10-£15.00 unless your in the midlands anytime soon!!!!

Not sure about cheap Vs expensice these got me around lavina in Italy in severe snow conditions. As long as you don't drive like a finnish rally driver then they will get you any where on snow covered roads.....

Hi,

 

I'm driving a golf with tyre size - 195 65 R15 91T. "Finnish Driving" the hire company said if I damage the car with the chains I will be charged, so I said it's okay to chuck it off the mountain, they said - yeah. HAHHA.

 

So do you reckon any chain will do. Or shall I get the easy fit self adjusters?

I'm no expert.... where are you going and what time of year....

Not to do myself out of a sale, won't you hire company provide the chains?

 

I reckon the ones i have will be to small but i will check.

 

My misses used the ones i have and she got then on and off no problem

 

She's only petite and does not even like putting fuel in the car so i'm sure you could manage.

 

They can damage the rims though if fitted poorly but we had no issues...

The hire company is one of those car clubs so they don't supply snow chains.

 

Going to French Alps straight after crimbo. There is one road to the house that after a certain point you must have chains for.

 

If you could check you chains that would be cool. And I shall keep an eye on the rims.

You'll probably get winter tyres on the car as standard I'd have thought?

 

I've driven in Sweden and Switzerland in the winter with these on and they're pretty good - our hire cars both came with snow chains in the boot but we never had to use them.

 

The other big thing is that they actually know how to deal with snow on the continent, rather than the mass panic of everything grinding to a halt at the first snow flake like it does over here!
