Shakes in Oak.

Hey all, been some while since Ive been milling and even longer since I posted here. Ive been milling a lovely old Oak here in Scotland and have a few nice slabs but there is a good but of shake near the middle. So some of the slabs have a wet split right up the middle. It comes and goes but its there.  The pics below are just a limb. The Trunk is about 3.5m in diameter.

My question is how do I stop or minimise the splitting and keep the slab whole?

Thanks for the reply. Bow ties when wet or after its been dried?

Is the rule of thumb still an inch a year for air drying?

Cheers. [emoji4]

Seasoned ties in green wood is fine.
Inch a year max from centre.
I.e.: 2" slab is 1" from centre,
12" slab is 6" from centre.
This is in optimum conditions.
In my experience it's a lot longer.
