2017 machines have all of the older issues addressed. The idling issue is easily sorted as above it's just a firmware update. The AT12 carb sorted a lot of issues mainly down to the spring diaphragm.

How to do you reset the saws you work on if your not a dealer?? You can buy the box but how do you access the firmware I wounder?

You run the saw on full choke for circa 90 seconds and then switch it off and then start it and use it flat out for a period to reset it.
